Baked Feta & 50,000 Followers
You may have come across a baked feta & tomato pasta dish that's been doing the rounds on TikTok and Instagram recently. It's an incredibly simple recipe, it's delicious and to my huge appreciation, it shot me over the 50,000 follower mark.
The beauty of TikTok is that it gives you the opportunity to reach thousands, if not millions of people and incredibly quickly. However, you just never know what's going to catch people's attention. My usual process is waking up and making whatever I feel like eating that day. Sometimes it's a hit, much more often it's not.
But, there is one way of putting yourself in a position of getting a lot of views. Follow a trend. It's definitely not a guarantee, but it's a good place to start. I'll be honest, I've often avoided the trends, not just because most of them are teenage dance routines, but I feel they're over done and where's the originality?
However, Cynthia persuaded me to hop on this particular one and she was right. She often is, which can be frustrating at times...
I made the video, did my voice over and posted it. 36 hours later, an additional 8,000 followers on board and views climbing towards 400,000, this might not be the last trend I follow!
I have to say there's no doubt why it's trending, it's bloody good. If you fancy giving it a go, you can watch the video here and the recipe is as follows:
Ingredients:
(serves 2)
- 1 pint glass of cherry tomatoes
- 1 block of feta
- 2 gloves of garlic
- 1 handful of fresh basil
- Half a cup of olive oil
- 150 grams of pasta
Method:
Add your cherry tomatoes to an oven dish, pour over your olive oil and season with black pepper. You don't need to add salt as feta is already salty. Place your block of feta in the middle of the tomatoes and then into a pre heated oven at 180c for 35 minutes.
Finely chop your garlic. I personally prefer to add this at the end when the sauce is hot enough to poach it. This adds a more intense garlic flavour which I love, but if you prefer it to be more subtle, add it to the tomatoes and bake with the feta in the oven.
Roughly chop your basil and put your desired pasta onto boil ten minutes before your tomatoes and feta are done.
Remove from the oven, throw in your garlic & basil and mix well. Drain your pasta, add it to the sauce and stir thoroughly.
I then garnished mine with a little more basil and chilli flakes, to add a bit of a kick. Season as you wish and enjoy.
